The last couple of days have been a little stressful but through it all I have laughed so very hard on more than one occasion because of something that one or other of the girlies has said.
My friends daughter has gone to Israel for the rest of the school year to learn all about life there and her religous roots. I was explaining to Lily how a rocket was launched by the Palestinians and it flew straight threw Gaza and landed and exploded very close to Luci.
Lily's first question was: Who are the Palace Indians?
No Lily not Palace Indians, Palestinians.
I then explained all about them and went on to talk about IED's but of course she managed to get that wrong to and called them IUD's. This reduced me to complete hysterics as I envisioned the Palace Indians running around attacking people with IUD's. Once I explained to her what I was laughing at she was in fits too.
This evening Rosie had swimming and she asked me if she could give Lilys coach an update. I told her sure, Tell him Lily won't be swimming because you snapped her like a twig.
Dear Gawd don't ask me how she got this so wrong but when she tried it she said, Coach Vladi, Lily won't be swimming for 4-6 weeks because you slapped her like a pig. Seriously, WTH how did she get it so messed up. Lily and I couldn't breathe we were laughing so hard. Thankfully this was just a dress rehearshal, we were still in the car!
Slap 'em like a pig. It's catchy but I have no idea what it means. I think I'll just say it evey now and again for the effect.

Life is a masquerade
Halloween is just around the corner and the girls have had their costumes picked out for over a month but tonight they decided they needed to be absolutely sure they had made the right choices.
They scurried off into the toy room and buried themselves in the dress up box. Every single one of the 99 million costumes that we have came flying out but for some reason the things that held them captive tonight were the masks.
I was busy cleaning out closets so I wasn't really paying to much attention to them but I walked past when they were playing with this one.
A few minutes later Rosie wanted me to take her photo looking like this.
Once the box was completely empty and the floor was covered in feathers and sequins they both decided they were 100% happy with their original choices. Oh Goody.
I thought it would be a great time to see if we could part with a few of them......silly me.

Kid in a bag
You would think that since the girls are spending so much time together at the moment that they would be fighting like cats and dogs but the exact opposite is true. The more time they spend together the better they get along.
Today I was doing all sorts of things around the house and I found them playing with this old cloth bag. Lily asked me if I would video tape her doing something. I obliged.
Frnakly, I think she is nuts.

Silly girls
We have the worst grocery stores here, They really stink. One is slightly better than the rest but oh how I wish we had Trader Joes. I love that store. Supposedly it is coming but it's not here yet. If I need anything decent we run to the Natural Market. I ran there today and the kids found this:
I told them that Lily would get stuck if she tried to cram her age 10 body into it but she begged to differ. I still don't quite know how she managed it. They both had those silly smiles on their faces the whole time we were there. Silly, silly, girls.

Curly Sue and her sidekick Twirly
Just as the girls were about to go to bed on Saturday night, nice an early, so that they wouldn't be cranky pants on Sunday, they asked me to curl their hair. Since Rosie knew she was wearing a dress on Sunday and was none to happy about it i figured the least I could do was make her hair twirly for her.
Lily will sleep in old fashioned foam rollers if she wants curly hair and when she wakes up she looks like Donna Summer. The girl has CURLS. Rosie isn't in to the whole sleeping in curlers and I can't blame her so we do lots and lots of plaits and she wakes up looking like a flash back to Kate Bush in the 80's.
By the time I was through with both of them it was no longer early and they both dashed off to the land of nod looking like this:
Rosie.
Yesterday when we woke up the Easter madness ensued and the hair was forgotten until it was time to get dressed, in a rush. As I took Lily's rollers out her hair just got bigger and bigger. Child had some many enormous curls and she wasn't happy. I did remind her that it was her idea. I wet her hair down a little and it looked great but she still wasn't happy. We ended up washing it but I failed to get a photo before hand. It amazes me that her long straight as an arrow her can get so curly and stay that way all day until it is washed. Rosie on the other hand loved ehr curls, AKA frizz and was very happy to prance about all day that way.

Air-robics before breakfast.
This morning the girls woke up earlier than usual, for a school day and accompanined me to the bathroom whilst I showered. After a couple of minutes Rosie let out this very excited sounding, " yes, lets go" and they were gone. I was just happy to have 20 minutes alone and was quite sure they wouldn't get into much trouble as it was only 6.30am.

I have no idea what caused them to be so batty before they had had even a morsel of food but whatever it is, I want some.
When I came down the stairs about half an hour later I was very surprised to see the elaborate set up that they had put together for themselves. Every single pillow off of the beds and a couple from the couch plus all the fluffy throws they could find. My first thought was, sheesh, thankfully they don't know where the spare pillows are kept. I walked past them and mumbled be careful. This was way to much activity for so early in the day.
As I started to make breakfast the shrieks and laughter exploded from the other room so I picked up my camera and lurked from the kitchen, straining to not get caught.
If you click on the photo to enlarge it you will see a slide show of smaller ones underneath it. It's like watching the whole thing in slow motion.
I love how Rosie tries to do it too but sort of just throws herself into the mass of softness.

Little chilly willies
My little girls are a couple of chilly willies at the minute. (For my English readers, not those sort of willies, you silly people!) As much as Lily loves the cold temperatures last night after her swimming practice she was frozen stiff. The pool is outdoors and the temps were in the 50's however the water is heated to a toasty 81 degrees. Being in the pool was great but the second she got out she was COLD.
She got dressed quickly and we raced home. She immediately headed for a hot and I mean, HOT, shower. She found some snuggly jammies and warmed herself up. We followed that with a hearty dinner and she was loving life again. It is rare that Lily ever says she is cold.
Rosie can't tolerate any temperatures below 75 and is commonly found under a fluffy blanket. I bought her some fleece footy P.J's yesterday and they seem to help. I also bought her some woolly tights and this morning I put them on her and she got so upset. I told her to stop being so silly and in the end got impatient with her. I dressed her in her uniform and thought we were done with the nonsense. A few minutes later I thought I could hear her crying so I went and investigated. She was in her Daddy's arms sobbing. She was saying she didn't like "these things". Bottom line: they were ugly ( i bought black to match her uniform ). I went to her drawer and pulled at some Hanna Anderssons that so don't match her uniform with their giraffe print at the bottom and pink stripes at the top and she loved them. hallelujah! She looked like she stepped off of the Oxfam truck but at least she was warm. Little Miss Picky Knickers went to school wearing red and pink....together in one outfit. Oh my OCD brain cannot handle this!
When I walked them into school I found myself explaining to the teacher that even though her lips were blue she is in fact 100% healthy and well and that the blueness should start to disappear in a few minutes. Luckily the teachers aid also gets blue when she is cold and was able to back up my story. Phew, I had visions of the paramedics being called. Even though she is warm to the touch, her lips are staying a funky colour for most of the day at the moment. Sometimes even I question whether her little heart is working properly or not but then I banish these thoughts from my head as fast as they crop up cos I have seen her heart working on the EKG's and ultrasounds. But sometimes......no, no, no.
We are starting a warming trend as of today. It's sad as I have loved freezing my bum off.

Wearing many hats

The girls love wearing winters hats but oddly enough we don't have much call for them in these here parts. Doesn't stop them from longing for them though.
They found these in a shop this weekend and begged for them. Even those sad little puppy dog eyes and pathetic pleas didn't work. We just don't need any more hats.

Racing the rain.
This is the third weekend in a row that we have had rain. Not just ordinary rain but "urban flood advisory" rain. It just doesn't stop. Both yesterday and today were forecast to be pretty awful. When I woke up it was black but not raining so I threw together breakfast for everyone and decided to get the girls outside for some fresh air before the rain started. Odly enough it is now hours later and we are still waiting.
Taking a break at the canal and looking for turtles.
Once the rain started we headed home but once it stopped we were off again with a different vehicle.
First we headed out on bikes and scooters. I just noticed this sign, WTH?
I love their faces here.
My favourite picture of the day. Lily was in a tight spot so I offered to help her out but she said, No No Mum I've got it. Not sure if you can tell from the photo or not but she apparently didn't have it and managed to wedge the jeep over a parking block. Always listen to Mummy, ~snort. We laughed so much.
