Dad in Charge, not!

Rose wanted to nap in our bed but I said no, Rose was upset, as you can see in the video. Well I was about ready to give in when the phone downstairs rang. So by the time I got back upstairs to Rose she had done it herself, thrown the pillows on the floor and snuggled between the sheets. And there she stayed for her noon nap.

Since I had to upload the video for Jacob I just to have to add that Rosie NEVER acts this way with me and I always accuse Jacob of being a pushover with her, hence the video of him being firm. He was showing me that he does stand his ground. HAH, she showed him. I laughed so hard when I found her asleep in our bed and all the pillows on the floor and that was before he showed me the video and told me the story. I was really surprised that he was so stern....not that she fell for any of it. That little girl has him wrapped around her finger.) Funny that this post should be the follow up to yesterday. Snort.

Don't tell Jakey but it killed me to see her that upset.

A Good Bye Post

This post is dedicated to saying good bye.

First and foremost yet again we say bye bye to Andie who headed back to Afghanistan on Monday to care for the wounded soldiers. Take care Andie and we hope this time you get to Skype us. Send me your address ASAP the girls are anxious to send you things, they want to go shopping at the chinese shop for you...ha ha ha.

Next up...drumroll please: we know longer have a crib in our house. Rosie has transitioned into a big bed or as she still insists on calling it, "a to-to bed" Bye bye crib! She thinks it has gone to Jenny's baby Danielle. Without any fanfare Lily and I just decided to take it down on Sunday morning and put her big bed together with all the frilly sheets and pillows and she was fine with it. In fact she napped that day for her longest nap ever and we ended having to wake her up after 2 hours and 45 minutes cos we needed to get ready to go out. Sunday evening didn't go so well for her. She went to bed in it but ended up in our bed but we think it is because of something that happened that day but last night was a charm and all naps have been fine. Throw salt over my shoulder, cross my fingers and pay uncle Howards Rabbi. Talking of Uncle Howard, I actually met him but that part comes next. And I still havn't met his Rabbi!

My final good bye is this: good bye to all the bad luck that has been haunting my dear friends the Weinstocks. On Sunday evening we went to a fabulous, and that is an understatement, fundraiser to raise money to cover the cost of Marc's medical bills for his upcoming heart surgery. We had a blast. The kidlets were all taken care of by some really lovely girls in a separate room and we big kids had a night at the races. I met Lori's father there and it was so odd because I feel as if I have known that man for years but in fact we have never met, he is such a nice gentleman and in these parts gentlemen are few and far between. I have met Lori's mum before but only once but I feel like I know her too. Truly a lovely family. Both sides of the family are just lovely and they deserve for this black cloud to go away so, BYE BYE already.

Dear Gawd was it ever fun and I hope they raised loads and loads of cash cos they truly deserve it. Bye bye wonky heart and HELLO good times for Marc, Lori and the DD.

Behaving ourselves for one second!

3 Word Sunday.

It's that time again. Go here to visit Pug Mama and see all the official rules for 3 Word Sunday and then go back to see her tomorrow and see the amazing slide show that she puts together.

Everybody will tell that you that the people they meet through adoption are just the most incredible people that they have ever met. Our stories are no different. Most of the people we spend time with now are families that have children from China and our closest friends of all are Hollis and her girls. We just clicked, we love her, her girls and the feeling is mutual. Our girls play for hours and hours on end and just cannot get enough of each other.

This photo only captures 3 of the 5 girls but if you look behind the girls you can see more evidence of how hard they play by the sheer devastation left in their wake......

Hubby also had 3 words this week. He has been working an awful lot of over time and last night he just wanted to get home but mother nature had other plans. We had some really awful thunderstorms here yesterday afternoon which ended up closing Miami International Airport for a few hours. This meant that Hubby wasn't able to get home when he was supposed to and he finally crawled into the house at around 2.30am. He didn't get cheery welcome he deserved in fact we didn't even save him his side of the bed apparently. God I look awful when I'm sleeping.

One day in our world

Hello World, You do realize that the anihc virus is out there and stops us from viewing lots of things we would like to see, so we are a bit behind on the world news, and other things related to tha including our blog. We can post but sometimes not view.

So today we were blessed by a Monk, and he actually took Rosie and held her, that is unheard of, but he did that. Then we went to a Folk Museum of some kind. It had a lot of nice vases like earthenware type of pottery very impressive, nice and so on. Dawn Lily and Andy went out shopping, and came back with some look alike clothing for the little ones, I think she should have got it for three of them.

Rosie is moving forward in leaps and bounds. Today she was crawling, standing on her own for about a minute, mimicking me when I would clap, all sorts of cute things. Lily is also doing great with the adjustment. She is realizing the responsibilities of being big sister and having to share her parents. In other words she has no choice but to share her Throne. The Real First Day (posted by Jake)

So we woke up a couple of times during the night, but we made it through the first night, for the most part. But the Lil is not well. After breakfast we found that our Lil was running a high fever. We left her behind with cousin Andy, (the nurse) and went off to finalize the adoption. All went well there, and we passed. So back to the Swan. Our little Rose is starting to loosen up. She is crazy about Dawn, on the other hand I will do, but it takes a moment for her to make the transition. Back at the Swan the Lil was still running a high fever, so mummy took her to the Hotel Doc. Doc gave her a shot and some meds and sent her back to the room for bed rest. Right now both girls are sound asleep. Lils temp has come down some and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she will be OK in the morning. We shall see what the days will bring.

Hi, it's me again (Dawn) doing the photos. I also want to add that Lily has a throat infection but she is doing OK. With her meds we are able to bring her temp down to 101 for a few hours but as soon as the meds wear off it shoots back to 103.6. She is being so sweet to Rosie and just loves it when Rose plays with her or talks to her.

Rosies first bath. For those of you who are not familiar with Asian children they often have Mongolian spots on their bodies. Rosie is covered in them and they are blue birthmarks and look just like bruises. Rest assured that they are not bruises and our little girl is fine.

Moms away, Lily is in charge

Mom has been renewing her Massage License CEU's to keep current this past week, so Lil and I have been having fun. It started Friday afternoon, we stayed up late and watched TV, (naughty us). Saturday Lil and I went to the pool all day. Sunday we went to Ft. Lauderdale to meet up with some friends to swim all day at Country Club Hollis $ Grace. The pictures tell the story. Today was swim lessons for a private one on one to improve Lils form. She will be a pro soon! Tomorrow we don't know what will happen, maybe the Zoo?

Today was Dads day at Lily’s school and her class put on a show for the Dads and only the Dads. Lily and I had a great morning with donuts and juice, and the show was great. I was so proud of everything. She made us matching ties, she did the questions and answers, like with Mom last week and sang some beautiful songs for us Dads. The pictures will tell the whole story.

This is Dawn: I cannot believe that the guest blogger was a man of so few words today. He came in from school all proud and gushing and then he writes 2 lines....jeesh. Lily really cracked him today with her answers to all the questions and she really made me laugh when I saw her answer to the question: My Dad likes to buy _______ and she said, computers. Hubby is basically a gadget and gizmo guy but he lurves his computers and Lily has him sussed. She also wrote that her dad is scared of roaches. She said that on my list too. The school is going to think we live in a flea pit that is crawling with roaches but we don't I swear. I would have to move, again, if I saw a roach in here it's bad enough that we get the occasional lizard.

Jacob Posts Again

Monday MLK day, no school for Lily. I had the day all planned out. We were going to go on the Glass Bottom boat tour at John Pennekamp in Key Largo. Well the weather was not great and there were three foot swells, (it was not my turn to chum the waters) so plan B. Arts and Crafts is always fun. In to Coconut Grove to a place called Color be Mine (www.colorbemine.com) Lily chose a tea cup (actually an espresso cup) and painted away. Lily painted few Lady Bugs on the cup and painted the saucer red. We had lots of fun and we also realize now that Lily has Picasso talent. My child is amazingly talented, bid for the Lily Picasso on e-bay.Dawn took the photo of the finished product and it doesn't do it justice but I don't have time right now to re-take one.She should be ashamed of herself.

Guest Poster Dad

So the other day Lily and I were playing when we heard an unusual ruckus outside, so we went to investigate. Miami-Dade warned us that we were getting new garbage cans that get picked up and dumped into the truck by this remote arm, but this thing is huge. In fact it was so big that Lil and I went against the writing on the plastic can “not to be used as a toy” and as you can see we had fun. Naughty us. We called Mummy and warned her that it was in the drive way and to check it out when she got home. Little did she know that Lily and I were hiding inside and we scared the bejeezus out of her. All in a days work when you are the dad.

Everglades Alligator Farm

A day out with dad today (me speaking), just fifteen miles down the road from home are the Everglades. So Lil and I headed out to see what was going on down there. We first saw the live alligator show. Then it was off to the airboat ride, Lots of fun, and there is no staying dry if you sit in the front row of the boat. So we sat in the front row. Off the boat and we had lunch, hotdog and popsicle. Then to the snakes and alligators show, where handling is allowed. Lil was a champ, she really made me proud. When asked for a volunteer from the audience Lily was up first. She stuck her hand in the bag and pulled out a snake. Also she was first to hold an alligator. This is a real South Florida gal. So long for now. I would suggest this place for anyone traveling down this way.
