A Good Bye Post

This post is dedicated to saying good bye.

First and foremost yet again we say bye bye to Andie who headed back to Afghanistan on Monday to care for the wounded soldiers. Take care Andie and we hope this time you get to Skype us. Send me your address ASAP the girls are anxious to send you things, they want to go shopping at the chinese shop for you...ha ha ha.

Next up...drumroll please: we know longer have a crib in our house. Rosie has transitioned into a big bed or as she still insists on calling it, "a to-to bed" Bye bye crib! She thinks it has gone to Jenny's baby Danielle. Without any fanfare Lily and I just decided to take it down on Sunday morning and put her big bed together with all the frilly sheets and pillows and she was fine with it. In fact she napped that day for her longest nap ever and we ended having to wake her up after 2 hours and 45 minutes cos we needed to get ready to go out. Sunday evening didn't go so well for her. She went to bed in it but ended up in our bed but we think it is because of something that happened that day but last night was a charm and all naps have been fine. Throw salt over my shoulder, cross my fingers and pay uncle Howards Rabbi. Talking of Uncle Howard, I actually met him but that part comes next. And I still havn't met his Rabbi!

My final good bye is this: good bye to all the bad luck that has been haunting my dear friends the Weinstocks. On Sunday evening we went to a fabulous, and that is an understatement, fundraiser to raise money to cover the cost of Marc's medical bills for his upcoming heart surgery. We had a blast. The kidlets were all taken care of by some really lovely girls in a separate room and we big kids had a night at the races. I met Lori's father there and it was so odd because I feel as if I have known that man for years but in fact we have never met, he is such a nice gentleman and in these parts gentlemen are few and far between. I have met Lori's mum before but only once but I feel like I know her too. Truly a lovely family. Both sides of the family are just lovely and they deserve for this black cloud to go away so, BYE BYE already.
Dear Gawd was it ever fun and I hope they raised loads and loads of cash cos they truly deserve it. Bye bye wonky heart and HELLO good times for Marc, Lori and the DD.

These are some photos of the hubby and I which I snagged from Lori. As you can see Jakey and I are always very subdued.

Behaving ourselves for one second!

One year ago this week Rosie had her corrective heart surgery. It changed our lives in so many ways but the most significant change for me was the removal of the label, "special needs child". Nothing about Rosie was ever special needs. Yes, she had a heart condition and yes, we adopted her through the waiting child/special needs program but to us she was always just our daughter and I couldn't wait to get rid of that horrid little "tag". You can read about that day here
Now our little Qi Qi keeps up with the best of them and will never encounter another trip to the cardiologists office ever again. She doesn't wake up dripping in sweat and doesn't pant like a dog if she runs after her sister. Her future is bright and is it just waiting for her to conquer it.

3 Word Sunday (more than 3 actually)

There was a time in this family when the expression, "Lives To Ride" was synonymous with Jacob and his Harley but now those words are tied to Lily and her horse. Oh how times have changed! This week Lily had a special lesson in which she and 11 other kids were going to be riding to the ice cream shop on horseback to buy an ice cream. Can you imagine the excitement level in this house? Suffice to say it could be measured on the Richter scale. I didn't tell her what day the ride out was because, quite frankly, I didn't need her to explode with anticipation.

First thing yesterday morning I checked our weather online before saying anything to her and was a little concerned with what I saw: thunderstorms all day and a feel like temperature of 107 degrees. Holy sh*t. Hmmm. not looking good babycakes. The weather men down here don't really ever seem to get it right so I just kept looking outside and hoping for the best. Finally at 11am I told her to go and get dressed and that her clothes were already for her. When she got to her bedroom she squealed, like a banshee.

We took her over to the farm and she was blissfully happy. It was HOT. Hell would have seemed like a better place to be and I was glad we were not going to be standing about outside watching her ride. She kissed us all goodbye and off she rode. (I off course drove in the (air conditioned) car and met everyone at the ice cream shop). I have no idea why other parents don't do this stuff. I love seeing her enjoying herself and she loves having me there and I know that won't last for much longer so I am enjoying it while it lasts! The instructors needed some help too. Buying 13 ice creams isn't easy especially since 2 of them had to stay with the kids and horses.

So here are my 3 words, finally

See the colour of her face! She was one hot sweaty mess! She drank a lot of water had a bath and was ready for a party later in the day! Phew this kid is full of energy.........good thing I am hyper too!
She isn't asleep here she was just laying like that with her eyes closed. She was really pooped.

3 Word Sunday

Since Lily went back to school we seem to have been sucked into a vortex where everything is once again a huge rush. From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to bed everything is rushed heck I even sleep in a hurry at the moment. This weekend we decided that no one and no-things were going to include us and our game plan for the weekend was a lazy laid back time. The girls don't seem to think that they need any down time but I'm the Mama and we all know that, "Mama knows best!"

For the rules of 3WS go here and don't forget to go back tomorrow and see the amazing slide show that Pug Mama puts together using all of the photos.

3 Word Sunday

For the rules about 3 word Sunday go and visit Pug Mama and then stop by her site again tomorrow and see the fabulous slide show that she puts together using everyones photos. She truly rocks it.

This has been a really long week and we couldn't wait for the weekend because we had promised LIly that if she had a great week at school she could invite Joie, Anlei and Trevi over for a sleepover. Of course I had already done so because she is loving school and there was no question that she would have a great week. As the weekend got closer my butt got closer and closer to the ground as I was just so tired but come Saturday the girls arrived for their "All Girl Weekend"

They played their little hearts out. They laughed themselves silly. They made up games and stories till nightfall. Most of all they just had fun and I have to say I laughed right along with them because quite frankly they are a riot and they think they know everything. Late last night they reluctantly went to sleep but not for long they were up bright and early this morning and we were awoken by the sounds of giggling girls.

For the rules about 3WS go and visit Pug Mama or just believe me when I tell you that your photo or video needs to sum up your week in 3 words and it's gotta be truthful. Pretty easy!

This weeks photos for us are a no brainer since Lily started school this week.

But now that big sister is gone for most of the day Rosie walks around all day long with her head hung low and repeats over and over again, "where's mine big Lily?" It is so sad, so very, very sad. Sad that is for the first 500 times but after that it just really makes your brain itch.

3 Word Sunday.

It's that time again. Go here to visit Pug Mama and see all the official rules for 3 Word Sunday and then go back to see her tomorrow and see the amazing slide show that she puts together.

Everybody will tell that you that the people they meet through adoption are just the most incredible people that they have ever met. Our stories are no different. Most of the people we spend time with now are families that have children from China and our closest friends of all are Hollis and her girls. We just clicked, we love her, her girls and the feeling is mutual. Our girls play for hours and hours on end and just cannot get enough of each other.

This photo only captures 3 of the 5 girls but if you look behind the girls you can see more evidence of how hard they play by the sheer devastation left in their wake......

Hubby also had 3 words this week. He has been working an awful lot of over time and last night he just wanted to get home but mother nature had other plans. We had some really awful thunderstorms here yesterday afternoon which ended up closing Miami International Airport for a few hours. This meant that Hubby wasn't able to get home when he was supposed to and he finally crawled into the house at around 2.30am. He didn't get cheery welcome he deserved in fact we didn't even save him his side of the bed apparently. God I look awful when I'm sleeping.
