Kindergarten Field trip.

When Rosie's teacher asked me if I was interested in chaperoning the class field trips I nearly knocked her over with my enthusiasm and wasted no time making sure she had my volunteer number. Today I, along with 50 million decibels of kindergarten liveliness, boarded a bus headed to the Little Farm.

I think it was the best field trip ever. Mrs Valle told me on Tuesday that she wasn't going to be here but the substitute that was filling in was wonderful. Well if we couldn't have Ms. V this lady was definitely the next best thing. One of the mums was super bossy and we were all appalled by her and frankly done with her but it kept things real and very funny. At one point we considered heading for the bus and not telling her.

This "Little Farm" really isn't so little. The kids got to touch all sorts of birds, ride horses, milk goats, feed goats, see and pet a sheep and cow, see pigs, march through butterfly gardens, and heaven knows what else. They went hog wild! Many of the farms down here are kind of Foochy, (that's my made up word for dirty and gross) with the animals in bad shape but the Little Farm is really nice.

This was no small chicken but this rooster was massive
Anyone for a quick game of duck duck goose?
THe kids loved their ride, every one of htem
One squeeze and move on. That was Rosies squeeze
Midred, and she was scared to death.
Rosie was one of about 6 kids who didn't run away from the goats.
Starving.
Cuties
I had taken Lily to this farm many years ago but had forgotten all about it. I am so glad I went today and will take Rosie back again.

A day off for good behaviour

Rosie had a field trip today and I was able to go along as a chaperone. I always chaperoned Lily's trips when she was little so now it is Rosie's turn. Her last field trip was positively dull but this one more than made up for it. We went to Pinecrest Gardens, the former home of Parrot Jungle and the kidlets got to play in the splash park, feed the animals in the petting zoo, feed the koi, play in the playground and have a picnic lunch. Absolute 5 yr old nirvana.

Due to all the fabulous foliage even though it was hotter than THAT place here today it was quite pleasant there with all the shade and the little ponds everywhere the only problem was the mosquitos but we were prepared for them.

This was Rosies favourite place to be.
This is a fun place to hang out
all the kids kept jumping on these little spouts and flattening them
Two peas in a pod
Jake and Ro
Up the monkey bars we go
All the kids were besotted by the pot bellied pig apart from from Rosie who loved this goat.
Frankly I think the pig was in need of some spanx.
I have no idea what these are but they are so pretty. I do know they are a lily as they were growing in a pond
Feeding the fish.
judging by the size of them they get fed alot.
After a long morning in the sun I couldn't help wishing these Lobster claws were real. It was lunchtime and they would have made a much nicer lunch than my cucumber and creamcheese sandwich
Between the 2 girls I have gone on quite a few field trips and tis is my favourite so far, closely followed by a trip to see Mr. Al. That man is so so funny and a very talented childrens entertainer.

Field trip

Today I accompanied Rosie's Pre-K class on a field trip. They went to the Environmental Centre at the local college. She wasn't to concerned about where she went, she just wanted to be sure they were going on a big yellow school bus.

She is finally embracing new things and it is so lovely to see. She was all excited this morning and raring to go. A huge difference from last year.

First thing this morning in her classroom. All smiles and ready to get going
Woo hoo, the school bus is here. I find them quite a novelty also. I travelled to school each day by coach. These buses are disgusting.
Not a creature comfort in sight.
Rosie and her buddy for the day Sebastian. Oh he is the sweetest little guy.
They got to touch all sorts of creepy crawlies.

A hissing cockroach. Yepper, she touched it even though I thought it was a dreadful idea.
A scarlet tarantula. She wanted no part of this guy.
They were all given fish food and we fed turtles and....
big snapping turtles, and
these huge fish
After that it was time for a snack

and then on to the next exhibit. I actually thought this dude was kind of sweet
Rosie, not so much. Every time I look at this photo I laugh. Her face is hilarious
She loved this baby Gator, go figure
Learning about plants

Planting her own seeds.

From there we headed back to the bus. The kiddies were all zonked which can only mean they had a fabulous time. IT was a great experience for them and fun for me to be able to tag along.
