Home.

How can I really still be in the same day?

My sister drove us to the airport early this morning and sadly it was an uneventful drive. She didn't get lost once! We said some quick, see you later's and headed through security.

We followed our usual routine and then once our gate was on the board we headed towards it. at least we thought we had but I had read part of one line and part of another and we were waiting in line with boarding passes in hand to board the Virgin flight. Oppps. For those of you who have never been to Heathrow, its a very long way from gate 18 to 32. We ran the whole way.

Shortly after we got off of the plane we realised that a Mrs Doubtfire look a like had been sitting next to Lily and all 3 of us started to laugh and couldn't stop. This lady even had the same sort of tights and shoes as Mrs. Doubtfire. She wasn't at all chatty on the flight so we didn't pay much attention to her but she could have been a body double for her.

Profile photo of Mrs Doubtfire. She even walked the same way.

We are back safe and sound a few days sooner than we had initially planned but that's life. It's funny but the second you walk through your front door it is just as if you have never left. Jacob met us at the airport and we walked in to a welcome home banner which I thought was a very sweet touch.
The plane ride was smooth and fast, one of the fastest yet, only 8.5 hours but it seemed to take forever possibly because we were up at 3am. I have to mention one little thing that happened on the plane as I thought it was a bit off. We were the very first row in coach, the bulkhead seats, and in the 2 seats to our left sat a man and his 6 yr old son. The man was obviously quite tired and kept trying to sleep. For the most part the child left him alone but after a couple of hours he woke him as he tried to walk by him and the man got very agitated. Towards the end of the flight the girls and I were playing card games and Rosie wanted to ask the boy to play. I said it was fine as we had an empty seat next to us. The dad agreed and Flynn came and sat with us. Not 2 seconds later his dad went to the back of the plane to talk with a friend and stayed there for about an hour. WTH? All of a sudden I am a babysitting service for a kid I don't even know, who, I would like to add, was quite mouthy. Finally the seatbelt light came on so I suggested he return to his seat. His father didn't return until the trolley appeared with afternoon tea! One day I will learn to avoid unknown children at all costs but until then I will remain the reluctant baby sitter in all circumstances.
The girls and their toys could not be separated today and they were not at all interested in leaving the house. It may have had something to do with the outrageously hot weather or just the fact that they were happy to be back in their home with their things. That is not to say that they have not had a fantastic time with their grands. I finally pried the toys out of their hot little hands long enough to get them into the pool for a couple of hours.
After their bath this evening Rosie fell fast asleep on the couch within 2 minutes. I think she is still on English time. I hope she wakes up at a reasonable hour in the morning....please cross your fingers.

Home.

Yesterday started really early for all of us, I was up at 4am, without an alarm clock, that was set for 4.45am and considering I was still awake at 2.30am I think that is amazing/disgusting. At 5am Lily popped out of bed and within 45 minutes we were all downstairs saying our "see you soon's" and loading Auntie Ann's car and heading for Heathrow Airport. Ann took us back to the airport since my Father doesn't know where he is going once he leaves Heathrow and has been known to get lost. (We gave him a GPS system for his birthday perhaps that will help!)

The motorway was free and clear at that time of a day on a Sunday so we were in the check-in line by 7.15. After heading through security we went and had some breakfast at our favourite cafe and and then we shopped for a few things for the girls to do on the plane. We have a tradition at the airport and we always do the same thing in the same order. Soon after that it was time to head to our gate and keep our fingers crossed that we would all be able to get on. Success! Jacob and Lily were listed for First Class and Rosie and I were listed for Coach as Rosie is not old enough to fly in First or Business yet. To Lily's utter dismay there were no eats left in First so they had to sit with us in Cattle Car! The flight was long and pretty bouncy but we didn't mind and the girls were great. Rosie napped immediately we were up in the air and stayed asleep for 2+ hours and then they both slept in the afternoon and Lily was still asleep when we landed.

We arrived home to a stocked fridge, thanks to CF who was house watching for us and after a quick and easy dinner that nobody wanted to eat until it was in front of them, we all started fading fast. The girls were asleep by 815 without a peep and I followed a few minutes later. Of course that meant I was up at 5am today....never mind.

Thank you to Jeanne and Daddy from the bottom of our hearts. We had such a wonderful time and are missing you terribly. Rosie keeps asking where is Grandpa and Lily keeps chanting, I miss Nannie and Grandpa. If the school calender allows we will shoot back over for a long weekend later this year.

Last but by know means least, Happy Birthday, today, to the worlds best brother. Love you lots.

Waitng for a plane.
Ready for Take Off
Seat belt on and ready to go.
We had the best crew this time and had lots of fun.
I have tonnes of videos from the trip that I didn't upload when we were away as I tired one time and a one minute video took 13 minutes to upload so I will do a video post really soon and get them all caught up.
