Lost in the shuffle

Last Thursday was Take Your Child To Work Day. It wasn't the National Take Your Child To Work Day, that was a couple of weeks ago but we live in Miami Dade County and by now you should know that we can screw anything up. FCAT's were in full swing during the national day so they made their own day and it was last week.

Rosie isn't old enough for a, get out of school free pass, so she can't participate and TSA decided last year that having kiddies at the airport was a security risk (aha they really feel that way) so Lily was left coming to work with me. The idea of that left her rolling her eyes in utter boredom. In all fairness to the kid she can't work on my patients so she gets to sit very quietly and do precisely squat so it isn't much fun. I scratched my head for a minute and then asked if she wanted to go to work with her Goo Goo. She said yes. Goo Goo works for our accountant so I rang him and asked if it would be ok and he said asked CF and if she says yes of course it is fine. CF, aka Lily's Goo Goo couldn't wait.

I promised it would only be for an hour. I went off to work and Goo Goo picked up Lily and they went to church and then breakfast. Lily wasn't happy about going to mass but she went. She apparently made the sign of the cross upside down with her hands (we are not Catholic) and upset her Goo Goo but was quickly forgiven. Once they arrived at the office Goo Goo gave her the Yellow Pages and and an adding machine and told her to start adding the phone numbers up without looking because all accountants have to use calculators without looking at them. And that is what Lily did for a whole hour until I got to the office. She said that Uncle Neil rescued her for a while and took her into his office and she showed him all his collections but Goo Goo found her and made her get back to work. LOL

I rescued her and we came home and did some baking. Her Nannie gave her a cookery book a couple of years ago and she has been working her way through it. We also made some really fabulous and reasonably healthy granola bars which the kids devoured in record time.

Oh and BTW she doesn't want to be an accountant.
Her recipe
Making the dough
Such a serious little chef
I think something got lost in the translation from English to American cos they were really really sticky even with tonnes of extra flour
She didn't want any help at all. She did a good job and even the brown ones were delicious

The Granola Bar recipes is here. It's from a blog called Smashed Peas and Carrots:
 No-Bake Energy Bites
{Recipe} No-Bake Energy Bites
 1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup peanut butter (or other nut butter)
 1/3 cup honey
 1 cup coconut flakes
 1/2 cup ground flaxseed
 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
 1 tsp vanilla
Mix everything above in a medium bowl until thoroughly incorporated. Let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour. Once chilled, roll into balls and enjoy! Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.

Good luck keeping them for a week.
