A birthday parade.

Today is hubby's birthday and whaddaya know, Coral Gables threw him another parade. The fact that is is called the Junior Orange Bowl parade must be an oversight, I'm quite sure they wanted to call it Jacob's Birthday Parade. We went with our friends Richard and Shara to honour the birthday boy. This has become an annual tradition and we love it.

This year, for the first time, the parade was in the daytime. Me no likey! It needs to be at night, it adds to the ambience. We didn't let it dampen our spirits, we didn't have to, the parade did that for us. This parade is usually amazing but this year it was lack luster at best. Of course that didn't stop us from having a good time though. The little bit that was there was very good but it was much shorter and missing alot.

Our little group waiting for it to start.

And we are off. Do all parades start with the local police department or is this a Miami thing?

No shortage of refreshments at this parade!
There were floats and....
pretty horses with ladies in beautiful dresses and......
this is for my northern and British readers, twirly girls in skimpy clothes in January is 78 degree weather, and..
the Cat in the Hat, and

lots of marching bands, and....
lots of noise, and...........
more twirly people. and..........
this tiny car being towed by.......
one of the many motorcycles, and......

The cast of Pan Am, and.......
Lily and I, and.....oh wait we weren't in it but I like the photo, and
Angels on horseback, and.....
big men in tiny cars with squirt guns, and.....
and that was the end of the parade so we headed out for dinner. Seconds after the parade ended the heavens opened and it poured for about 5 minutes
The dinner gang.

The birthday boy
me and my girlies.
Richard, Shara and Jacob.

The birthday boy was hungry today! He ate not one, but two birthday desserts. He had this one before we even left. It's his favourite chocolate cake in the world. Linda's Fudge cake from Cheese*ake Factory

Happy Birthday Jacob. Hope you enjoyed your parade, Maybe next year they'll get the name right!
