A couple of years ago we took Lily here and we had the absolute best day that we have ever had. Since that time she has talked about it constantly so we promised her that this year we would return and take Rosie with us.
Woburn Safari Park is without a doubt in a league of ti's own. You drive your car throughout the park and all of the wild animals are free to roam. We encountered many more animals this time and had an enormous rhinoceros walk straight in front of our car, which I must say was a little intimidating. The zebras and giraffes were not as scary, ditto the lions, tigers and many others that we saw. The brown bears came very close but we kept moving as the signs read "bears will remove your mirrors", not a good plan since we are in Grandpa's car.
Our favourite part of the safari park is the monkeys. Once you enter their domain, if you are lucky, they will climb onto your car and sit there for a long time and or a long ride. They play with the windscreen wipers, and the aerials and if they are in a mood they will of course snap them off. We were fortunate as we had playful monkeys and we also had a car with a large glass sunroof so the kids could see their monkey business all to well.
Rosie was astonished to see a monkey climb on her car and her face was priceless. Since this is all private property and the speed limit is 10mph the kidlets do not have to be in car seats and that makes it easier for them to view everything and anything. After we drove through the park and re-drove through the monkeys 5, yes you read that correctly, times we went and had lunch and walked through some other areas of the park. One such area was called, Australian Walkabout and in this exhibit yet again the wallabies, and ostrich plus a few other animals that I have forgotten were roaming around and as long as you stayed on the path you could touch them if they approached you. We were quietly creeping along along when suddenly Rosie's little voice says, Whoa, that's one big duck, Daddy uppy me". She had just come to face to face with an ostrich. It was hilarious!
Most of the photos were taken through the car windows, for obvious reasons, so they all have glare in them. I didn't take many in the monkeys cos i was enjoying myself as much as hubby and the girls were. I have loads of videos but they are taking ages to download here so I will do them once we get home and have a video post.
