Firstly I just have to say that Rose does not sleep! She is getting 3 hours a night and anywhere between a 15 and 45 minute nap. Tonight she slept from 7pm until 7.48. She could not hold her eyes open and just finally gave in but after a power nap she is once again up. She has got herself all caught up in a power struggle with sleep and is now too tired to sleep. I am at that stage too, I can just keep going and going now, 2 hours a night suddenly seems normal especially if they are continuous.
Today was her pediatric appointment and she is doing really well.
Her stats at 13 months are:
Weight 16 lbs even (we couldn't believe it either Andie)
Height 28 inches
Head circum' 17 3/4 inches
She has a heart murmur which the doc called a constant rumble and would elaborate no further since she knows we have cardio appointments next week and knows we are seeing the head of cardiology and are in the BEST hands.
Her breast bone is deformed, she has something called pectus arcuatum. The Dr doesn't believe it has anything to do with her heart as to be this noticeable she would have to have a serious heart condition and nothing about her indicates anything "serious".
Rose is the first patient in this huge practice to have come from an orphanage and not be anemic. She shows all signs of being on track for her age and basically the Doc is amazed by her and said we are so lucky to have such a healthy daughter. She has to have a myriad of shots, 5 of which she got today and she will ge the rest in a fortnight. She had to have blood drawn and a urinalyisis. We were there for 2+ hours and it was non stop.
We thought she would go batty once the nurses came close but they are so gentle that first they came in and sat for a second and engaged her in conversation and then they started to hold her hand and worked it up from there. She only cried when she got poked and when it was time for the pee pee bag they let me do it as to not upset her anymore than was needed. Jacob and I are so happy with this pediatrician. She even made a couple of calls to Miami Childrens Hospital to check a few details out with other doctors. She now has to have a lot of blood drawn at Childrens and that will happen in a few days.
The bottom line is this: She needs no early intervention therapy and is very healthy and showing many signs of attachment and bonding. What more can 2 sleep deprived parents want?
Rose loves to dance and cracks up like a wild child the whole time she is dancing. I promise video very soon. Until we get into some sort of sleep pattern I am not going to post cos any free time I get I use to clean and tidy up and make sure Lily has as much attention as possible. Talking of Lily: She loves her sister to bits and today she wanted Rose to pick her up from school so we took her along in a baby carrier so that she couldn't get mauled to death and Lily lit up like a beacon. So very sweet. I love my Lily, my Rosie too.

Wonderful news (except your sleep deprivation)...and don't worry about that sternum!
Hey, sorry for you but it looks like she takes after me in the sleep department. After all that, I'll probably get the kid who sleeps 16 hours a day.
Sounds precious. Love reading your blog
You will slowly work up a few more hours of sleep, hang in there. We have been functioning for a few years now on just four consecutive hours.
Good luck with the cardiologist appointments, it is encouraging to hear the doctor say she is so healthy!
And Lily is a fantastic big sister!
Love colin
great news about the appointment. Hopefully the one next week with the cardio will as good! :0)
That is super duper news!
Hugs to your petals, Lily and Rose.
Keep smilin!
What great news that she's on target and doing so well, I'll be anxious to hear how the appts with the cardiologist go- you guys are in my thoughts!
What encouraging news from the doctor. I have been looking forward to the doctor appointments and can't wait to hear what next week holds. Thanks for sharing Dawn. Try to get some rest.
Love, April

Glad to hear the dr's appointment went well! That is such great news.
Hope Rose starts to see that sleep is not the enemy...so that her parents can get some much needed rest too!
Glad Lily is so in love with her little sis - I had no doubt!
XO
Such amazing news on all fronts. The sleep will soon come and it sounds like you are holding up well. I had no doubt that you would. I love hearing that your two beautiful daughters are bonding.
When you feel up to it give me a call.
Huge hugs,
me
I hope you and Rosie get some ZZZ's really soon!
Thanks for the update, see how mother's intuition counts for everything, with the sternum issue. I just love the fact that shes not anaemic, she will be now she's had all that blood taken! But not to worry, I'm hoping a bit of anaemia and 5 shots in one day should equal a decent nights sleep!
Yay Rosie! Great news from the doc is always a boost - even if you're too tired to really take it all in.
Sleep deprivation really isn't too bad. I haven't slept through the night since a few months before our referral call. And now that Erin is home, she comes into our room at night to chat. (Can someone explain why she feels the need to chat at night!?)
So glad she is doing well. I hope you can get the sleep issue under control....you need some rest girl....it is going to catch up to you.....have a wonderful weekend.
Ohhh, sounds like things are going well(except for the no sleep thing, but hey..)
She's a doll and has the bestest big sister too!!!
