New Years Eve

Today as I frantically cleaned the house to "sweep out any misfortune and bad deeds from last year", and hung the Chinese New Year decorations and put out out the traditional red lacquered dish with all the treats for the new year I couldn't help but stop and think of all the people in China. This is their big celebration. The one that revolves around family and many of them are stuck somehwere unable to travel because of the weather so they won't be with their family. It is so cold there at the moment. Even the southern region of China has snow. They are not prepared and do have the necessary provisions. Our daughters, were, are, or will be in these orphanages and they need our help.

If you have been under a "warm" rock somewhere and havent read
this please do so. Spare what you can. Stick your hand down the back of the settee if you must and grab for the loose change.

This is 2008, people should not be cold and hungry and most definitely not our children.

You said it so well. I could not have said it better and I plan on quoting you to some of my groups to continue to help raise money. There is no excuse for any of us NOT to give.

Dawn,
our Paisley is in one of the affected SWI's, I spent all day writing and calling charities to ask for their help in contacting them to see whats going on. They are not doing well, they have sporadic power but no heat, not enough blankets and warm clothes for all the children...Love without Boundaries rocks, although Yofeng SWI is not one of their sponsored orphanages they agreed to set up a fund for them...if anyone is interested in donating please let them visit my blog and all the information is there.
Let us remember the places that dont have 'sponsorship' it is our responsibility to seek out help and step up to the plate! Thanks for posting this!
