More Fun

I have to say that blogging from China is quite a challenge. It usually takes 3 or 4 attempts before we can log in and when we finally do manage I cannot see the blog or comment on any of yours since I can't see them either. Even a tried and trusted method that my dear sweet Lori shared with me is failing. But we will not be defeated so we trick the system...bwa ha ha ha.

I have to say how impressed I am with Lily's Chinese. She doesn't think twice about it she just yips the few words and phrases that she knows. Her favourite by far is telling the street vendors, NO! Followed by a timid, thank you which is also in Chinese. I can't remember how it is spelled but it sounds like Boo Yow and sometimes she will say xie xie after it.

Today we headed off to the temple of Heaven. It was flipping freezing but we had a great time. I cannot tell you one thing about it as my hat was pulled down over my ears and the chattering of my teeth drowned out the guide. We spotted a little cafe that sold drinking chocolate and then we were in double heaven and all was well.

In the temple Lily was accosted by vendor after vendor and she finally found something that she was interested in and the Chinese ladies let her join in with them. She had a great time and we purchased her a ribbon so she is now racing round the room twirling like a loony.

Our guide, Jade is wonderful and Lily loves to walk with her and spend time with her. Since lilys Chinese name is also Jade she now wants to be called Jade, but only by her family. She is such a hoot and so far I have not called her Jade one time an keep getting into trouble.

From the Temple we headed straight to the pearl market where we did a spot of serious shoppy. Jacob knew he was in trouble the second we walked through the door. We purchased a string of pearls for both of our daughters for when they are older and Jacob bought me the most exquisite, even if I do say so myself, pink pearl pendant with white gold and itty bitty diamonds in the mount. It is just fabby. Me so happy! Lily was the only one out of our group who correctly guessed which string of pearls were real and which were fake so the lady gave her a pearl pendant as a prize! Lucky little Schnoogie. Everyone loves her here and she isn't a very shy child as you know so she is having a whale of a time.

Out tourist days in Beijing are over. We are free this afternoon and then tomorrow lunchtime we head to GZ.
