Sans Children

My husband is nuts. He took the night off of work this evening and we made plans to go out, actually it happened the other way around, we had an invitation and then he took the night off.

My friend Jakie watched the girls for us and as each hour passed by and the time of our departure grew closer Rosie looked sadder and sadder. To cheer her up we went out in the Jeep for a little ride and then when we got back she played outside on her scooter. Wouldn't you know she wiped out. Wiped out right in front of the neighbour lady who is so overly protective of her little girl. She skinned her knee and her elbow. She'll mend, but in the meantime she calls it her gimping leg and her gimping arm and it didn't help to get her mind in the right place for our departure.

I digress. Jakie arrived and immediately we were forgotten and sailed smoothly out of the door and into the car. The entire time we were in the car Jacob kept talking to an empty back seat, "No Lily you can't put your window down, Yes Rosie we are almost there now, etc etc.". I asked him what he was doing and he said, staying in practice. The man needs serious help.

I love my girlies with all my heart but getting dressed up with make up on and sparkly jewellry and having my hubby by my side, also all dressed up, instead of a little person frantically clinging to my hand, feels really fabulous too. Even if he is completely off of his rocker.

Who Are These People?

Today was a quiet yet wonderful Sunday. No huge, plans just being together. We were in the car and Lily announced, "Look at me, I'm a nerd." I laughed so hard.

When Jacob saw her looking so daft he told her he would pay her 50 cents if she would wear them into a store. She of course, was up for such a dare.

Rosie didn't want to be left out.

Sorry she is sideways I was sitting in the front looking back and Jacob went around a corner......fast.

By now you can probably guess what happened next right?

I swear I spent the afternoon denying I had ever met any of them!

Free, To A Good Home, One Husband. :)

Where to begin?

For as long as he can remember Jacob has always worn glasses. Last week he went to the eye DR and he is now waiting for his new specs.

He woke up this morning and decided it was a perfect day to do some pressure cleaning so he took his little self outside and started his job. About an hour later as I walked through the living room I saw him out the window with his cleaning "wand' aimed at the second story windows. I watched him for a few minutes and then realised he was aiming at the bathroom window. I thought to myself, no he can't be cos the window is open. Then I made sure that the bathroom window was the one he was aiming at. Just then I panic stricken look washed over hubby's face and I headed up the stairs 3 at a time.

As I walked across the bedroom carpet heading to the bathroom my feet got wetter and wetter the closer I got. Yes, the window was open and he had been spraying it for a good 2 minutes before he realised. He came upstairs and we laughed so hard. The bathroom was flooded. The light fixtures were dripping, the floor was an ocean and everything in between was floating away.

All he said was: I hope my new glasses arrive soon!

So if any one is looking for a hubby, mine needs a new home! It has to be a nice home cos he is a good guy, a really good guy but he needs new glasses.

You Didn't ?

On Monday evening Jacob took Lily to gymnastics whilst I was at work. I thought nothing of it since he is really quite capable of doing anything with Lily except her hair and matching her clothes. This morning I was sorting the washing and noticed her scarlet leotard and then underneath that in the hamper was a pair of bright pink gym style shorts. My first reaction was to dive into the hamper and see what else she had worn that might possibly have matched her leotard but the hamper was already empty. That dear, sweet, colour blind as all hell, hubby of mine dressed MY child in red and pink!! It clashed, the big ugly clash. It didnd't enter my head to set out her gym clothes for her she usually gets them herself and does well.

I need to back track for a second. When we first met Jacob was doing alot of print and T.V. work and he always dressed really well. I am not sure who dressed him or shopped for him but he looked good always. It wasn't until after a few months had passed that I realised he must be colour blind so I asked him to take the Ishihar@ test. He took it and passed with flying colours. I was flummoxed to say the least. How could someone throw so many patterns and colours together if they could actually see them? One day before a business trip I told him not to wear anything that he wanted to take with him as everything was back from the cleaners and ready to go. When I caught up with him later in the day I was blinded by his colourfulness and sickened by his dancing patterns.

He is probably ready to delete this post at this point! To this day I shop for him and match him. He knows what he can wear together and he avoids trying anything different if I am not around. So that brings us to now. Lily has her own mind with regard to her wardrobe and is not bad at hitting the mark so I have no idea how Monday's colour scheme got by her.

We had to go to gymnastics tonight and I wondered if they would let us back through the door and thankfully they did.

Here is a glimpse of Schnoog on the beam.

I Call Him "MR Clever Pants"

Hubby came home yesterday to the normal hoopla and fanfare that he receives from Lily. This is one of the many parts of motherhood that will never get old. Lily goes bonkers when she sees him and throws herself at him and clamps her whole self on to him and kisses and snuggles. I think I am going to go away for a few days to see if she does it to me but maybe I shouldn't cos if it doesn't happen I will be crushed.

After she had gone to bed I hit Jacob with the normal laundry list of things that I had broken in his absence or things that had malfunctioned. This list was short just one little thing, my heart keyring that is new and I love. He took one look at it and immediately decided he could fix it. All was very quiet and when I returned to the kitchen I found out why.

I grabbed the camera cos this is a classic!

It took him ages and ages but he was finally free from my heart.

While I Was Sleeping

Jacob has a strange habit of getting up in the middle of the night and eating cookies and drinking milk. I cannot even eat breakfast so I can't imagine waking up from a dead sleep and scoffing a handful of cookies and drinking milk. Not only does he do this but sometimes he doesn't actually wake up to do it and when I get up in the morning I am faced with a disaster in the kitchen because he is not so tidy when he is asleep. On more than one occasion Lily and I have come downstairs together and been greeted by the leftovers and she just says, Daddy ate the cookies again, in her most stern voice. When she saw his latest assortment of night time treats she begged him to let her join in one night.

Apparently last night was the night. While I was sleeping the 2 of them got up at about 2am and went on a wild kitchen raid complete with hot chocolate made with milk and Pepperidge Farm Seville's. He went in to her room and woke her up and she immediately sprang into action. She thought it was the most fun ever and refuses to tell me anything about it but slips every now and again and blurts something out and then says I can't tell you it's between me and daddy. I woke up this morning to find Schnoog in our bed because Jacob had just elbowed her in the head and she was complaining. Other than that I oblivious to the escapade, which is probably just as well cos when I asked if he brushed her teeth I just got a dirty look.

He tried to get pictures but her eyes were to sleepy and everytime the flash went off she said it hurt her eyes but he managed to get one that you can actually see her in the others were just a fuzzy blur. It kills me to think she is this awake and alert in the middle of the night just seconds after waking up.....maybe it was all that sugar, daddy!

I've found your stash, Daddy

Daddy gets a new doo too

Lily likes to share so she thought dad should get styled yesterday as well. He wasn't quite so sure but I think the pink brings out is feminine side! Poor guy goes through so much for his little girl and now it is only going to get worse. He says he wants a, dog a big male dog! The large tumor like mass protruding out of Lily's cheek is a grape :)

Pretty In Pink.

Daddy Gets A Haircut

Just another Sunday morning in this house. Jacob wanted his haircut which is something that I have been doing for him for years since all it involves is getting out the clippers and removing it all. This time around though things were a little bit different cos Miss Lil' decided she wanted to help and because she is the light of her daddy's life he said, yes. Can you say, C-R-A-Z-Y F-O-O-L. She did a pretty good job and he even still has his ears. Lets face it when you shave your head how bad can the mistakes be cos bald is bald and bald covers up all sorts of mistakes! I think this family has gone nuts.....not sure if China would like us so much anymore.
